Festival syllabus

The Festival syllabus, listing all the classes available and information about the Festival, including its rules and entry fees, is published within the six months preceeding the Festival.

The 2019 syllabus can be downloaded here.

If you would like to receive a hard copy of the syllabus, please contact the Administrators to be put on the mailing list.

Please read and understand the Festival rules and conditions if you would like to participate at the Festival. A copy of this document is enclosed in the Festival syllabus, as well as the Child Protection Policy.

"Bits & Bytes" Class

The Bits & Bytes Class returns for its fourth year!

This Class uses a system, developed by Mozart and other 17th century composers that remarkably anticipates the digital age. It shows that we can all be Mozart by "composing" bits (bars of his music) into "bytes".

If you are interested in participating in this Class, please download the instructions first here.

Please also contact the Administrators to get the "kit of parts" you will need to play the game and enter this Class.

We will provide you with the following:

  • A pair of dice
  • Two grid "Table of Numbers"
  • A table of music, of consecutively numbered bars of music, composed by Mozart. If played in this order however, these bars will not produce harmonious music
  • A blank manuscript
  • A description of how to produce your Mozart Waltz
